I travelled to Marshall Islands, Kenya, China and Malawi – here’s what I learnt
In 2019, I travelled to a few countries to teach and apply human-centred #design, like the Marshall Islands, Kenya, China and Malawi!
Here are some lessons I learnt during my time there.
🤯 Human connection is one of the most powerful ideas I’ve come across. When people connect, they are empowered to work together to create a better future.
🌟 Design is a universal language. It helps us understand people’s problems and the root cause. In return, people buy into the process and the solution. Design isn’t about jargon. It’s about understanding people’s needs and creating a brighter future that works for them.
🎨 Everyone is creative and can contribute if given the opportunity. Sometimes it takes time to build safety for people to participate. In hierarchical organisations, you can create a sense of security by removing the hierarchy, and reminding people that they’re all equal and need to contribute.
